The Outreach Van is a mobile community outreach program in Whitehorse. It is aimed at meeting the health, safety and social needs of community members, particularly people who use substances and people who are unhoused.
It is a joint program between Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Society of Yukon (FASSY) and Blood Ties.
The van provides the following services:
- Safer injection kits, safer pipe kits, safer snorting kits, and foil kits
- Needle disposal and pick up (call/text 867-334-1647 for pick up)
- Naloxone kits and overdose prevention education
- Fentanyl and benzodiazepine strip drug checking services
- Harm Reduction education on topics like wound management, sexual health, vein care, and infection prevention
- Winter clothing, socks, toques and mitts
- Snacks and warm beverages
- Supportive listening and referrals to services
- Hygiene supplies
